Yaremi de las Mercedes Kordos, born in Cuba, graduated from the Conservatory of Music. Amadeo Roldana in Cuba, where she studied classical guitar and vocals. There she also performed alongside bands such as El Muso y su Gran Sonora, Huracan del Caribe, Nelson Manuel y la Corte and Giraldo Piloto & Klimax. Her greatest achievements before leaving for Europe included cooperation with Buena Vista Social Club (specifically, with the group’s famous member, Omara Portuondo) and representing Cuba at the Cultural Festival of Ceiba in the Mexican city of Tabasco.
She came to Poland in 2004 at the invitation of Jose Torres. In their joint project – Havana Dreams, he not only sings, but also plays percussion instruments. The artist is not afraid to combine her style with the different sounds of other artists. The proof of this are concerts and recordings in the company of, among others, the Wrocław Symphony Orchestra, eM Band, i.e. the Entertainment Orchestra of the City of Jaworzno, and the pop vocalist Marcin Czerwiński. She also presented her talent in many philharmonic halls and opera houses in Poland – the Forest Opera, the National Forum of Music in Wrocław and the Congress Hall. Osiecka.
Yaremi de las Mercedes Kordos’ presence in Europe also means participation in numerous festivals, bringing together fans of both Latin and jazz sounds – the singer appeared, among others, at Festival Cubano, the Traditional Jazz Festival “Złota Tarka” in Iława, the International Percussion Forum in Żagań, at “Jazzobrani” in Olesno and Art Jazz Cooperation in Lutsk, Ukraine. Additionally, the artist cooperates with the German groups Havana Night, Cuba Percussion & Friends and Habana Tradicional. With the latter, she performed in the Czech Republic, Switzerland, Austria and, of course, in Germany, where the JazzTage festival takes place every year in Dresden.
